About
Hi, I’m Lauren,
a licensed clinical social worker offering online psychotherapy for adults across Tennessee. I've been in clinical practice for over twenty years, and the work that draws me most is sitting with people who are ready to understand themselves more fully — not just intellectually, but in a way that actually changes how they feel and move through their lives.
A Long Way Around
My path to this work wasn't straightforward. I studied psychology early in my life, left the field, and spent nearly a decade in a completely different career before returning to graduate school in my mid-forties. That detour turned out to matter. I came back to clinical work with a different kind of patience — for complexity, for ambiguity, for the understanding that people change not because they've finally found the right answer but because something shifts in how they relate to themselves and their experience. I also came back knowing firsthand what it means to carry something for a long time before addressing it. That shapes how I sit with people in this work.
What Shapes My Work
I'm EMDRIA Certified in EMDR therapy and draw from relational, attachment-focused, and psychodynamic traditions. When helpful, I also incorporate skills from cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapy to support coping and emotional regulation.
I'm interested in how people adapt to survive emotionally, how patterns develop over time, and how clarity and choice grow through understanding rather than pressure. My work is shaped by curiosity, reflection, and genuine respect for each person's lived experience.
