Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer individual therapy, EMDR therapy, and group therapy — all provided online for adults across Tennessee. Individual therapy is a one-on-one space to slow down and explore what's underneath the patterns, feelings, or experiences that brought you here. EMDR is a structured, trauma-informed approach offered at a pace that respects your nervous system. Group therapy offers something different: the opportunity to explore relational patterns in real time, in connection with others. You can learn more about each on the therapy pages.

  • The first step is reaching out. There's no pressure to have everything figured out before you do — you don't need to know exactly what you want to work on or be able to articulate it clearly. We'll start with a brief consultation to talk about what's bringing you in, whether working together feels like a good fit, and what the logistics would look like. You can reach me through the contact page, by email, or by phone.

  • I've been doing this work for over twenty years, but my path here wasn't straightforward — I left the field early in my career, spent nearly a decade in a completely different profession, and returned to clinical work in my mid-forties. That detour matters. I came back with a different kind of patience for complexity and ambiguity, and with firsthand knowledge of what it means to carry something for a long time before addressing it. I'm EMDRIA Certified in EMDR and draw from relational, attachment-focused, and psychodynamic traditions. I'm also not interested in rushing toward solutions. What I'm interested in is understanding — because that's usually where lasting change actually lives.

  • You can reach me through the contact form on the Get in Touch page, by email at lkelleycounseling@gmail.com, or by phone at (615) 584-6632. I'm happy to answer questions before you decide whether to schedule a consultation.

  • Individual and EMDR therapy sessions (45 minutes) are $155. Extended EMDR sessions (90 minutes) are $225. Group therapy (75 minutes) is $60 per session. I accept a number of insurance plans through Headway, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, United Healthcare/Optum, and others. Self-pay clients are billed securely through SimplePractice, and HSA and FSA cards are accepted. If your plan isn't supported through Headway, I can provide a monthly superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Full details are on the Pricing page — and if you have questions, I'm happy to talk through your options.

  • Therapy with me is responsive to where you are. If you're coming in overwhelmed or in the middle of something hard, we'll work on what you need most right now — concrete skills, strategies, something to hold onto between sessions. At the same time, I pay attention to the larger picture: the patterns, the history, the dynamics that shape how you feel and respond. Over time, those two threads tend to work together. I take your experience seriously and bring genuine curiosity to it, and I'll be direct with you when that's useful. The goal isn't to get you to a more manageable version of the same life. It's to help you develop a more honest, grounded relationship with yourself — one that holds up where it matters.
